The Southwest Chief Bicycle & Comedy Festival is bringing Chicago and Los Angeles together by train for a weekend of comedy and bicycling in Trinidad, CO May 2-5, 2019

Combining live comedy, bicycling and train travel, the Southwest Chief Bicycle & Comedy Festival is looking to provide an unforgettable experience for audience members in Colorado, Chicago, Los Angeles, New Mexico, and dozens of train communities that sit along Amtrak's Southwest Chief Passenger Rail Line.

Spearheaded by Wally Wallace (recently named Denver's Most Prolific Producer of 2018 by Denver Open Media) and made possible by the support of Bigtop StudiosBirdy MagazineGiddyup Bikeshare and Backshop Bicycle Travel Supply the Southwest Chief Bicycle & Comedy Festival is looking to fill a train car in Chicago and a train car in Los Angeles with comedians and performers, along with comedy lovers, bicyclists and train enthusiasts for an overnight train journey across state lines for a comedy and bicycling blowout on the Colorado and New Mexico border.

Trains will depart Los Angeles and Chicago on Thursday May 2, 2019 and will arrive in Trinidad, CO on Friday May 3, 2019. Once there all festival bound passengers will meetup with dozens of comedians and hundreds of audience members from Denver, Albuquerque, and many more Southwest communities for a weekend of laughs that ends Sunday May 5, 2019.

We will be offering comedy experiences at several bars, theaters and other venues throughout town including; the Southern Colorado Repertory Theatre, Brix Sports Bar, Las Animas Grill, Moose's Martini Bar & Social Club, Jujo's Dancehall, Hot Yoga on Main and more. Family friendly comedy and activities will be available free of charge, all day Saturday at the Carnegie Public Library. Festival attendees are encouraged to bring their own bicycles along for the experience. If you can't bring your own bike, Southwest Chief Festivals is also partnering with Trinidad's new bike share organization Giddyup to provide rides for those without their own wheels. Those looking to tour the area by mountain bike can do so with one of the expert guides at Backshop Bikes. Additionally, pedicab transportation will be provided by Rubberside Down Cyclery for the duration of the festival.

Once a booming coal town, later deemed “The Sex Change Capital of the World”, and most recently coined “Weed Town, USA”, Trinidad is a breathtakingly beautiful town with a very rich history. Don't miss your opportunity to take in the magnificence of this “Hidden Gem of Southern Colorado” May 2-5 2019, as we celebrate three of humankind's greatest creations – bicycles, trains and comedy!

We've already announced 20 comedians from Denver, Albuquerque, Chicago and Los Angeles with dozens more still to come! Join us as we profile a comedian a day on our social media from December 18, 2018 through January 15, 2019, the final day pre-sale tickets are on sale!
